Opening Up a Small Space

This is a picture of my living room. I will admit, it's not huge. Okay, let's be honest, it's a pretty tight space.

I'm okay with having a small living room. Personally, it feels more cozy to me. I'm also willing to take the trade off of having a small living room for having a character filled, older home.

With that being said, I want to open this room up. I'm going to do that by adding French doors to that blue wall.

The French doors will allow more natural light into the room. This in itself will make it feel more spacious. Oh and not to mention how good vitamin D is for our moods. (I'm so excited!)

In good weather, I will be able to open both doors and create a larger space by doing that. Although the room won't actually measure to be any bigger, it will absolutely feel bigger.

On the other side of these soon to be French doors, will be a wood deck with a pergola. The deck and pergola will add to making my living room feel bigger because the outdoor deck will look like an extension of my indoor flooring and the pergola will carry the eye from the indoor ceiling to the new outdoor "ceiling".

I will absolutely share pictures after this project is done and these tricks to make a small room feel bigger are applied.
